Art as Therapy

Image shows two men in the Community Access Group standing next to and art project they worked on that is hanging in the Jepson Center. The art piece is a large blue circle with imprints of white leaves, and seeds covering it

Art is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. It calms, helps focus, and expands the mind. It allows people to work at their own pace and cultivate personal growth. Your donation will allow fully adaptive creative opportunities for our participants.

Transportation

Image shows woman in a purple shirt smiling and waving as she and two other people walk away from a Chatham Area Transit van.

A wheelchair van is a critical need.

When EmployAbility reduces the impact of structural barriers, like inadequate transportation, adults with developmental disabilities can be more self-sufficient and independent. This program is vital to the individuals with developmental disabilities we serve. Many would be wholly unable to participate in the training and community access services we offer without the handicap-accessible transportation support provided by EmployAbility.

Facilities

The pandemic was hard on everyone, and there was no exception here. We lost one of our buildings and moved all services into a warehouse. Our dedicated staff worked tirelessly to create a space for learning, socialization, and recreation. While we are grateful for what we have, our participants deserve more. We need to retrofit our building for safety; we need real classrooms with actual walls, and industry-specific training spaces for prevocational training.

This is just the beginning.
